The Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, celebrated the Pongal festival on January 12, 2024, on the college campus.

Pongal Festival Celebrations at Trinity College for Women, Namakkal

The Pongal Festival is called “Tamilar Festival.” It is also called the “Harvest Festival. It is celebrated in the state of Tamil Nadu on the second or third week of January every year. 

The Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, celebrated the Pongal festival on January 12, 2024, on the college campus.

Dr. R. Kulandaivel, President, Trinity Academy Matric Higher Secondary School, Namakkal, inaugurated the Pongal festival.

Er. K. Nallusamy, Chairman of the College, explained the significance of the Pongal festival for Tamilians and the traditional way of celebrating Pongal, as well as how that custom has been followed till now.

All the students exchanged sweet pongal, chundal, and sugarcane during the get-together.

The various events, like the folk dance of valli kummi, the dance of grace, the activity of the lemon run, fill the water bottle gaming, the lucky corner, etc., were held among the students’ participants.

Mrs. Aruna Selvaraj, Executive Director; Dr. M. R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal; Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Academic Director; Mr. N.S. Senthilkumar, Administrative Officer; and also various department heads, faculty members, and nonteaching staff took part.
