YRC coordinator and the volunteers’ participation in the road safety awareness programme
The Indian Red Cross Society, Namakkal District, The Youth Red Cross, Periyar University, Salem and YRC of Arignar Anna Government Arts College, Namakkal jointly conducted a programme titled “Road Safety Awareness Seminar” on 25.07.2024 in the College Campus.
Dr. A. Raja, Principal, Arignar Anna Government Arts College, Namakkal presided over the programme. Dr. M. Chandrasekaran, Assistant Professor of Botany and Coordinator – Road Safety Club of the College welcomed the gathering. Dr . S. Padmasekaran, Zonal Coordinator, YRC, Periyar University, Salem, was the chief guest. Mr. A.K. Murugan, Regional Transport Office, Namakkal North was the special invitee.
Mr. A. Narasimmamani, Safety Trainer, Madurai was the resource person.
Mr. C.R. Rajeshkannan, Secretary, Red Cross & DLO Rod Safety, Namakkal offered the felicitation address.
India has the second largest road network across the world after the United States of India. India has the highest number of road deaths in all parts of the world. Everyone needs to be well aware of the road traffic rules and regulations, particularly students who are at significant road accident risks, the special invitees pointed out in that seminar. Also, they highlighted the significance of road safety and fatal risks caused by vehicles.
The Programme Officers of Youth Red Cross from various Arts and Science Colleges, located in Namakkal District participated in that programme.
On behalf of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, Mrs. V. Kalaivani, Assistant Professor in Physics and YRC Programme Officer, along with the students of the second-year M.Sc. in Physics, Ms. R. Aarthi, Ms. K. Kaviya, Ms. A. Maneesha, Ms. T. Jovitha, and Ms. E. Kavipriya, took part.
Dr. E.G. Wesely, Associate Professor of Botany and YRC Programme Officer, Arignar Anna Government Arts College, Namakkal, proposed the vote of thanks.
