NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

The honourable Prime Minister of India,   Shri Narendra Modi has called upon the nation to bring a campaign, Swachhata Hi Seva, shun single use plastic from 11.9.19 to 2.10.19.     The main objective of the Swachhata Hi Seva was to emphasise the priority of eliminating the single use plastics and how to control the plastic pollution around the globe.   In this continuation, our College National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross, Citizen Consumer Club and Red Ribbon Club jointly organized a one day awareness programme entitled “Shortcomings of single use plastics” on 19.10.19 in our College campus.   Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman of the College presided over the programme.    Each minute 10, 00,000 plastic bottles are purchase around the world, single use plastic do not always make it to the landfill or get recycled, he pointed out.       He stressed the students for usage of cloth bags in our day to day life, Er. International Girl Child Day on 11th October 2019

The NSS Cell of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal enthusiastically celebrated International Girl Child Day on 11th October 2019 in our College campus.  
Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman of the College presided over the programme.   Er. K. Nallusamy, Secretary and Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal graced the occasion. 
   Dr. M. Sasikala, NSS Programme Officer, Unit – 1 spoke about the significance of girl child day.  Mrs. S. Jayamathi, NSS Programme Officer Unit –  2 encourages girl students to equip themselves to face several challenges and difficulties and be talented to prove themselves in variou Mrs. R. Owing to birth anniversary of Periyar, our College NSS and YRC organized a one day awareness event entitled “Periyar and women’s rights” on 17.9.2019 in the College campus.  

     Periyar’s was a great Indian freedom fighter and a social reformer in Tamilnadu, Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal spoke on his welcome address.   

Ms. M.V. Bavadharani, II M.Sc., Mathematics student spoke that the topic of Periyar’s role for women’s development of our society.  

Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman presided over the programme.  Er. K. Nallusamy, Secretary of the College offered the felicitation address.

The National Service Scheme was launched on 24th September 1969.   This year (2019) is the Golden Jubilee Year of NSS.   The NSS units of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal celebrated Golden Jubilee Anniversary on 24.9.19 at the premises of Trinity College.    Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal presided over the programme.   He said that students should also take part in many social activities along with University syllabi  for the growth of society and nation.     Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Dean highlighted the importance of NSS works.   The NSS Programme Officers Dr. M. Sasikala and Mrs. S. Jayamathi shared their experience on being part of the NSS Unit.   All the NSS volunteers of our College participated and took the NSS oath in that NSS Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

The National Service Scheme of Periyar University, Salem, The National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, Green (Pasumai) Namakkal and HDFC Bank, Namakkal branch jointly organized “Saplings Plantation Programme” in the name of “Sathyavanam” on 23rd January 2020 in Ladduvadi village, Namakkal district. 

Mr. V. Sathyamurthy, President, Green (Pasumai) Namakkal presided over the programme.  Mr. P.K.Sengodan, Chairman,  Er. K. Nallusamy, Secretary and Dr M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal, Trinity College for Women offered their felicitation address.  Mr. M. Thillai Sivakumar, Secretary, Green (Pasumai) Namakkal welcomed the gathering.   The Treasurer of Green (Pasumai) Namakkal Mr. N. Sivaprakasam, The branch manager of Namakkal HDFC Bank Mr. Balachandran, The Senior Manager of HDFC Mr. Sivakumar and the staff member of HDFC Mr. Daniel was present.    The Programme Officers of NSS Dr. M. Sasikala, Mrs. S. Jayamathi and the Administrative Officer Mr. N.S. More than 400 saplings planted in the area of Sathyavanam in Ladduvadi village.    Especially, tree saplings of Mango, Lemon, Pomegranate, Guava and Sapota seeded on that occasion.   

SPECIAL CAMP

7 days special camp of our College NSS (National Service Scheme)  held from 21st January 2020 (Tuesday) to 27th January 2020 (Monday) in the villages of Lathuvadi and Nallaiyagoundampudur in Mohanur Panchayat Union, Namakkal District.  Our respected College Chairman Mr. P.K. Sengodan presided over the camp.  Our esteemed College Secretary Er. K. Nallusamy lighted the lamp.  (Kuthuvilakku). 

  Dr. P. Prakash, Co-ordinator, National Service Scheme, Periyar University, Periyar Palakalai Nagar, Salem was the chief guest  for valedictory function held on 27.01.2020.    He highlighted the importance of higher education (especially research courses) and opportunities of more advanced studies available in abroad with scholarships.   He gave away prizes to Panchayat Union Middle school students of Lathuvadi for their achievements in sports activities.   Furthermore, he focused on significance of tree plantation and its maintenance.     Rain water harvesting, water management, tree saplings, awareness programme on road safety, yoga for leadership enhancement, women’s efficiency, sports activities for school students, free medical camp & health check up, road maintenance, self employment for rural women, etc., held on that one week NSS camp.    Beside that 400 tree saplings planted    in Lathuvadi villages with the help of Green (Pasumai) Namakkal.

·         The National Girl Child Day is celebrated in India every year on January 24.  In this regard, NSS, RRC and YRC of Trinity College for Women jointly celebrated National Child Day on 24th January 2020, Chairman of Trinity College for Women Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Er. K. Nallusamy, Secretary, Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal and Dr Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic graced the occasion.   Er. K. Nallusamy, Secretary encouraged girl students to equip themselves to face various challenges and be dexterous to prove themselves in all fields.   Various cultural events were performed by the volunteers of National Service Scheme, Red Ribbon Club and Youth Red Cross related to women empowerment.

On behalf of our College NSS, we organized a one day awareness event on “Swachh Bharath Abhiyan” (Cleanliness of India) in our College campus on 03.02.2020 (Monday) @ 3 Pm.

On this subject,  Mr. K. Sugavanam, Sanitary Officer, Mr. K. Subramaniam, Inspector of Sanitation,  Namakkal Municipality were the resource persons.  They gave the outline of the swachh bharat abhiyan and also reiterated the momentousness of protecting cleanliness in and around the surrounding environment where we live opening from the class room, laboratory, hostels, etc.,

·         “CORONA VIRUS – SYMPTOMS, PREVENTION AND ALERTNESS” (COVID-19)  

The NSS Cell of our College (Trinity College for Women, Namakkal) has organized a one day awareness programme entitled “CORONA VIRUS – SYMPTOMS, PREVENTION AND ALERTNESS” (COVID-19) on 12.03.2020 @ 2.30 pm in our College Mini Seminar Hall.        On this subject,  Dr. V. Priya, MBBS, Medical Officer, Government Primary Health Centre, Konur – 637 207, Namakkal Taluk, Namakkal District was the resource person. The programme started with a welcome speech by the Principal of the College Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, followed by felicitation address of the Director – Academic Dr. Arasuparameswaran.  Dr V. Priya spoke on the dangerous disease of corona virus, its causes, symptoms, mode of transmission of the disease and provided health education on preventive measures.  Preventive measures highlighted on the importance of maintaining basic hand and respiratory hygiene, safe food practices, avoiding close contact etc, she stressed.    The programme ended with an interactive question-answer session.  Mrs. S. World Environment Day was celebrated on 5th June 2020 by the Tree Plantation

World Environment Day was celebrated on 5th June 2020 by the Tree Plantation Programme organized by the units of National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Club of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal.   The programme was inaugurated by Dr M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal of the College.     Mrs. A. Nithya, Director of Physical Education welcomed the gathering.   Dr. B. Vishnupriya, Assistant Professor in Tamil delivered the vote of thanks.    This Tree Plantation Event was organized by the Co-ordinators Mr. N.S. Senthilkumar (RRC), Dr. R. Savithiri (YRC), Dr M. Sasikala (NSS) and Mrs. S. Jayamathi (NSS).   Principal had explained about the trees and the importance of tree plantation for safeguarding our nature.  Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman, Er. K. Celebrations of National Voters Day – (25.01.2022)

Trinity College for Women, Namakkal has organized a National Voters Day Pledge administered by fresh voters and faculty members of College of 25th January 2022.   This day was observed with the motive of spreading awareness among young new voters.  New voters and staff members of Trinity College for Women took pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced  by considerations of religion, race, community, caste, language or any inducement.   This voter’s pledge event was held through the platform of Google Meet.   It was organized by the Electoral Literacy Forum in association with NSS, YRC & RRC of the College.   Many young new voters enthusiastically participated in that event.  

National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) Oath (31.10.2021) at Trinity College for Women, Namakkal

Pledge ceremony on the occasion of National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) held on 31st October 2021 in the College campus.   This programme was organized by the National Service Scheme.     

                       Mrs. S. Jayamathi, NSS Programme Officer, Unit 2/Assistant Professor in Tamil delivered the pledge and other participants followed.  The pledge was created by means of the support of nation’s integration and uniformity among the diverse cultures of our country.  

                  The NSS Programme Officer – Unit 1/Assistant Professor & HOD of B.Com., and B.Com., Computer Applications, Dr. M. Sasikala, her address, she emphasized the relevance of the idea of Sardar Vallabhai Patel and gave helpfulness of unity among the Indians.

The volunteers of the National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal offered a two minute silence as a mark of tribute to the chief defense of India Shri. Bipin Rawat, sudden death because of helicopter crash near Coonoor, The Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu state.   This two minute silence event was held on 09th December 2021 in the College premises. Dr. S. Jayamathi, NSS Programme Officer (Unit 2) of the College delivered the welcome address and highlighted Rawat’s early life, education, military service, awards and achievements.   Dr. M. Sasikala, NSS Programme Officer (Unit 2) proposed the vote of thanks.   More than 150 volunteers of the National Service Scheme took part.   


“5th COVID – 19 Vaccination Mobile Camp” 

Our College (Trinity College for Women, Namakkal) NSS Cell organized “5th COVID – 19 Vaccination Mobile Camp” on 27th December 2021 in the premises of science block for the benefit of students and faculty members of Trinity Educational Institutions, Namakkal.  58 students of our educational institutions  are due for their second dose of vaccination.   They benefited from this mobile vaccination camp.   Dr. M. Nandhu Sri, Medical Officer,  Mrs. V.Gomathi, Staff Nurse,  Primary Health Center, Ernapuram, The NSS Programme Officer of the College Dr. M. Sasikala and Mrs. S. Jayamathi made arrangements in that camp.

·         On account of observation of World Cancer Day (4th January), The National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross, Red Ribbon Club and Trinity Women’s Forum in association with Namakkal Indian Medical Association organized an offline event in the heading of “Cancer and Leprosy Eradication Awareness Programme on 04th February 2022 (Friday) in the College mini seminar hall.    Dr. M. Malliga , Member, Women Doctors Wing, West Zone, Indian Medical Association, Tamil Nadu State Board, Namakkal, Dr. A. Jayanthinie, Deputy Director of Health & Services (Leprosy), Namakkal and Dr. M. Suganthi, Director & Consultant, Pragalath Nursing Home, Namakkal spoke on the topic of “Current knowledge of cancer and Leprosy Prevention” (புற்று நோய்  மற்றும் தொழு நோய் குறித்த தற்போதைய தெரிவும், அதனை தடுக்கும் முறைகளும் “) .       The above said resource persons highlighted the general details of leprosy, manifestations, clarification on the related myths and lies, treatment and preventive plans.   Also they elucidated the various different types of cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

The Department of Physical Education in support of the National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized an offline event in the title of ‘The Multiple Benefits of Surya Namaskar’ on 10.02.2022.

The National Service Scheme Programme Officers Meeting was held on 11th February 2022 in the premises of senate hall of Periyar University, Salem.   Dr. P. Prakash, NSS Coordinator of Periyar University welcomed the gathering.   The NSS Programme Officers will be responsible to carry out the instructions issued by the programme coordinator of the Periyar University, he denoted.  Prof. Dr. R. Jagannathan, Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Periyar University, Salem presided over the meeting.  He highlighted the roles, duties, responsibilities and significance of National Programme Officers.   Dr. A.K. Ramasamy, Former Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry, Periyar University, Salem was the special invitee.   NSS Programme Officer is an important role for service activities in the College.  The NSS Programme Officer is an organizer, a motivator, an educator, a coordinator, a supervisor, an administrator and a public relation officer.   They should adapt all the activities of the national service scheme for our society’s development, he stated.   More than 200 volunteers of NSS programme officers in various Institutions from the Periyar University affiliated colleges attended.   On behalf of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, Dr. M. Leprosy Awareness Programme:-

The NSS Cell of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal has organized a Leprosy Skin Screening Event on 14th February 2022 in the College premises.   Dr. A. Jayanthinie, Deputy Director of Leprosy, Namakkal district was the special invitee.   Leprosy is probably the oldest disease afflicting mankind.  Leprosy is a curable disease but if it is not found out and treated early, it can cause permanent disabilities.  So, each and every College students and staff members should check up in the leprosy skin screening, she denoted.   The members of Women Doctors Wing of Indian Medical Association, Namakkal branch and staff members of Namakkal District leprosy were present.   Dr. M.R. An anemia awareness programme (awareness programme of Hemoglobin) was conducted by the National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science), Namakkal on 14th February 2022

An anemia awareness programme (awareness programme of Hemoglobin) was conducted by the National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women (Arts and Science), Namakkal on 14th February 2022.   

               Dr. M. Malliga, M/s. Thangam Hospitals and Cancer Centre, Namakkal was the invited speaker.   He spoke about the signs and symptoms of anemia and its dietary management.    Mrs. T. Selvakumari, Patient Service Officer and the sub staff of Thangam Hospitals and Cancer Centre – Ms. M. Sangeetha, Ms. R Nandhini, Ms. A. Priyanka took part.   The NSS Programme Officers Dr. M. Sasikala, Mrs. S. Jayamathi and the Director of Physical Education Mrs. V. Archana made arrangements.   Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal,  Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic and Mr. N.S. Senthilkumar, Administrative Officer offered their felicitation address.   This event showed favourable in helping spread awareness and knowledge about iron deficiency anemia.

 On 16.05.2022 Dengue Awareness Campaign was organized by the National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal.

On 16.05.2022 Dengue Awareness Campaign was organized by the National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal.  The events included cleaning of college premises, closure of stagnant water, spreading bleaching powder on stagnant water, and distribution of dengue awareness pamphlets to the College students.  The NSS volunteers and the NSS Programme Officers eagerly participated against the terrors of Dengue under the guidance of Mr. S. Sangeeth and Mr. P.S. Gowtham, Health Inspectors, Primary Health Centre, Konur, Namakkal District.    The events were co-ordinated by Dr. M. Sasikala and Mrs. S. Jayamathi,  NSS programme officers of the College.  All the students took a pledge of Dengue Awareness.

Electricity Board Recruitment, Tamil Nadu Agriculture Department, Teachers Recruitment Board, Police Exams, Etc.,

Dr. M.Sasikala, NSS Programme Officer (Unit 1) welcomed the gathering.  Mrs. S. Jayamathi, NSS Programme Officer (Unit 2) proposed the vote of thanks.    Nearly 100 volunteers of NSS took part.   

In support of National Service Scheme of Periyar University, Salem, NSS camp (நாட்டுநலப்பணித்திட்ட சிறப்பு முகாம்)  of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was held from 02nd March 2022 to 08th March 2022 in the villages of Ladduvadi and Nallayagoundampudur,   Mohanur Block, Namakkal district.   

The main objective of this NSS camp was –Youth for Cleanliness (தூய்மைப் பணியில் இளைஞர்கள்).

The volunteers of National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal have enthusiastically completed their various social service activities in and around villages of Ladduvadi and Nallayagoundampudur.               

 On 02nd March 2022, the NSS camp inauguration function was held.  Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal of the College welcomed the gathering.   Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman presided over the camp.   Er. K. On Final Day (08.03.2022), Dr. P. Prakash, Coordinator, National Service Scheme, Periyar University, Salem came to the NSS camp.    He spoke among the NSS volunteers.   All the volunteers of NSS must actively participate in the regular activities of National Service Scheme as well as NSS camp events.  This type of NSS camp supports the student to grow individually and also as a group.   It creates the students confidence, leadership skills and obtains knowledge about different types of people from different walks of life, he added.   

           The NSS Programme Officers of Trinity College for Women Dr. M. Sasikala and Mrs. S. Jayamathi made arrangements in that NSS Camp.  

Sari Exhibition cum Sale

Owing to the livelihood of handloom weavers of M/s. TM-CH Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society, No – 4, Gandhiji Colony First Street, Gandhigram, Dindigul District Tamil Nadu state, our College National Service Scheme has conducted “Sari Exhibition cum Sale” on 09.04.2022.    It was held in hall No 3.   
Mr. G. Subbiah, Mr. S. Kanagaraj & Mr. P.V. Vasudevan, Staff Members of TM/CH Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society, Gandhigram have established a stall in our college campus and sold their handloom sarees of Varanasi Cotton, Manipuri Cotton, Chettinad Cotton, Silk Cotton and Sumangali Cotton with concessional rates. 
 Our staff members and students of our College gladly purchased these saris for the forthcoming Tamil New Year Festival (14th April 2022).   This exhibition was arranged by the NSS Programme Officers Mrs. S. Jayamathi and Dr. M. Sasikala.

A wrap up of cybercrimes in mobile applications, social media and banking sectors

On behalf of NSS, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal conducted an awareness programme in the title of “A wrap up of cybercrimes in mobile applications, social media and banking sectors” on 05.04.2022.  

 It was held in the mini seminar hall.  Mrs. P. Vedhapravi, Inspector of Police, Mr. P. Sivakumar and Mrs. C. Buvaneswari, Sub Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime Police Station, Namakkal were the special invitees.   

In today’s world Android phones are the most important and useful service device.  Every person is using at least one sim for their personal or business use.  In India, at least 50% of mobile users do not use mobile security solutions resulting in enhanced mobile cyber threat, they said.   Cyber crimes have been managing social media since its inception.  This is manifested in the form of fraudulent transactions, virus attack, hacking, cyber defamation and cyber stalking.   We must know about the cyber crimes in the social websites such as WhatsApp, Facebook, twitter, instagram, telegram, etc., they denoted.   Apart from that they demonstrated the banking crimes like phishing, cyber extortion, data breach, identity theft, harassment, etc., through the PowerPoint presentation.

COVID 19 Covaxin and Covishield vaccination camp

COVID 19 Covaxin and Covishield vaccination camp was held on 30.04.2022 in the College premises.   This event was organized by the “National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal” and “The Primary Health Centre, Konur, Namakkal District”.    Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal of the College inaugurated the camp.   Dr. V. Paul Selvan, Medical Officer, Mr. J. Jayakannan & Mr. S. Sangeeth, Health Inspectors and Mrs. K. Gomathi, Village Health Nurse, Government Primary Health Centre, Konur, Namakkal District took part.    More than 200 persons who are belonging to Trinity College for Women, Trinity Matric Higher Secondary School and Trinity International (CBSE) School have benefitted thru this vaccination camp.    Apart from that, nearly 20 faculty members of Trinity College for Women have vaccinated their 3rd dose of booster immunization in this camp.   This camp was arranged by the NSS Programme Officers Dr. M.Sasikala and Mrs. S. The NSS wing of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized a clean India campaign on the 99th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi on the date of 03rd June 2022.  The main aim of the program was to spread awareness among the students regarding cleanliness and its benefits.  All the NSS volunteers along with NSS Programme Officers Dr. M.Sasikala and Mrs. S. Jayamathi participated.  National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women intends to organize more events like this in the future to promote awareness about campus cleanliness, Mrs. S. Jayamathi said.

The National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal, in association with the Primary Health Centre, Ernapuram, Namakkal District organized COVID 19 vaccination camp on 15th June 2022 in the College science block.   Vaccination (Both Covishield and Covaxin) was done by the staff members of Primary Health Centre, Ernapuram.   More than 100 students benefitted.  

        Apart from that, 10 staff members of Trinity College for Women administered COVID 19 booster doses in that camp.

Mr. K.  Nallusamy, Former Faculty Member, Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Coimbatore was the invited speaker.   

He highlighted the various green sources related to protection of nature like water management system, conservation of forests, organic farming, significance of tree sapling, self-sustainable renewable energy, etc.,

International Yoga Day was celebrated by the National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal on 21.06.2022

Celebration of International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day was celebrated by the National Service Scheme of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal on 21.06.2022.  

 It was held in the premises of the College science block. 

 Mrs. G. Ganarathinam, Yoga Trainer, Swami Sivananda Yogasana Research Centre, Yoga Nagar, Madurai was the invited trainer.  

She spoke on the topic of “Yoga for good health”.           

She welcomed the participants to the event and put light on how yoga plays a principal part in our day to day lifestyle.   She taught some important mental, physical and spiritual practices to the participants which would help the participants in ameliorating their health by enhancing blood and boosting immunity.             

More than 250 students of our College took part.   

The NSS Programme Officers of the College Dr. M. Sasikala and Mrs. S. Jayamathi made arrangements.
