· On account of Mahakavi Bharathiar’s birth anniversary (11.12.2019), our College Trinity Women’s Forum has conducted the various competitions like elocution, essay writing and lyrics on 10.12.2019 (Tuesday).
The title (s) of the competitions
Elocution Competition ( பேச்சுப்போட்டி ) – Bharathi – if alive today (பாரதி இன்று இருந்தால்”)
Essay Writing Competition – ( கட்டுரைப்போட்டி ) Give me the power (“வல்லமை தாராயோ”)
Lyrics Competition ( கவிதைப்போட்டி ) – Firmness in mind we should have (“மனதில் உறுதி வேண்டும்” ).
More than 150 students of our College have enthusiastically taken part in those competitions.

By virtue of 6th Annual World Tamilar Festival 2020 the event of Global Organization of Tamil Origin Meet (உலகத்தமிழ் வம்சாவளி ஒன்று கூடல் 2020) was held on 10.01.2020 and 11.01.2020 at the venue of Kalaivanar Arangam, 1 Arunachala Steet, Walajah Road, Triplicane, Chennai. This debate was held on that days in the title of “Tamil Language is Developed by either Homeland Tamilians or Overseas Tamilians (தமிழை அதிகம் வளர்ப்பது தாயகத் தமிழர்களா ? அல்லது அயல் நாட்டு தமிழர்களா ?). Dr Ve. Ka. Vanasatchi, Leading Tamil Writer, Chennai was the special guest. On this subject, more or less 100 participants took part in that event from various districts of Tamil Nadu state. Ms. A. Gokulapriya of I B.A., English have secured 4th place in this contest. She spoke on the topic of “ Tamil Langauage is developed by Homeland Tamilians” (தமிழை அதிகம் வளர்ப்பது தாயகத்தமிழர்களே).

Birth anniversary celebrations of Mahakavi Bharathiar
138th birthday of great Tamil Poet Mahakavi Bharathiar (11.12.2020) was celebrated in Trinity College for Women, Namakkal organized by the department of Tamil Development, Namakkal District, Trinity Women’s Forum and Mellina Tamil (மெல்லினத் தமிழ் மன்றம்) of Trinity College for Women. Namakkal. On this subject, the Birth Day Celebrations of Bharathi day webinar programme was organized on 10th December 2020.
Mrs. Andal Priyadarsini, Programme Officer of Podhigai channel of Puducherry/Tamil Poet/Lyricist/Short Story Writer/Novelist/Kalaimamani Awardee was the invited speaker. She spoke on the topic of “Penmaiya Pesu” (பெண்மையே பேசு).
Subramaniya Bharathiyar was a great Tamil poet, freedom fighter and social reformer of Tamil Nadu. He was an all rounder of Tamil language. He was known as Mahakavi Bharathiyar. Mahakavi means an eminent poet. He is considered as one of India’s greatest and distinguished poets. His songs on nationalism and freedom of India helped and aided to rally the masses to support and encourage the Indian Independence Movement in Tamil Nadu, she focussed. She highlighted the role of Mahakavi Bharathiar for women’s development. Bharathi, Bharathidasan, Periyar and Ambedkar were the great social reformers in India, she indicated.
Dr M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal of the College welcomed the dignitaries and delivered the welcome address.
Dr. R. Kulandaivel, President, Trinity Academy Matric Higher Secondary School, Namakkal and Mrs. V. Jothi, Assistant Director, Department of Tamil Development, Namakkal district were the special invitees and they spoke of Bharathi’s extraordinary skills such as Tamil poet, writer, freedom fighter, journalist, social reformer, etc., in that webinar.
Mr. P.K. Sengodan, Chairman of the College presided over the webinar. Er K. Nallusamy, Secretary of the College offered his felicitation address. The chief guest Mrs. Andal Priyadarshini was introduced by Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic of the College.
More or less 100 students have actively taken part in that web based event. Dr. T.K. Anuradha, HOD of Tamil, Trinity College for Women delivered the vote of thanks.
