“Human Rights Day”
Human Rights Day was observed in the premises of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal on 10th December 2021. It was organized by the Equal Opportunity Cell of the College. Dr. T.K. Anuradha, Assistant Professor and Head, PG Department of Tamil of the College talked about Human Rights Day. Human Rights focus on creating equal opportunities for every one, she denoted. She also motivated the students to respect the rights of others and not just for their own rights. Dr. R.A. Anitha, Coordinator of Equal Opportunity Cell of the College made arrangements.

Dr. R.A. Anitha, Assistant Professor in Tamil & Coordinator of Equal Opportunity Cell, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the resource person. She described the various scholarship schemes like National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of SC Students, Post Graduate Scholarship for professional courses for SC/ST, Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Child, Swarna Jayanti Fellowship Schemes, Kishore Vaigyanik Porsahan Yojana, Adi Dravidar and Tribal welfare scholarship, post matric scholarships for SC students, Post Matric scholarships for ST students, etc., Dr. T.K. Anuradha, HOD of the Post Graduate Department of Tamil highlighted the various scholarships available in both Private and Government Sectors for higher education. Nearly 100 students took part in that awareness programme.

Mrs. S. Malarkodi, Assistant Professor in English, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal was the resource person. Other Backward Caste is a collective term used by the Government of India to classify castes which are educationally or socially disadvantaged. At present, OBC’s are entitled to 27% of reservations in public sector employment and higher education. All the eligible students from other backward classes are getting OBC certificates separately (It is not included in the Backward Caste and Most Backward Caste certificates of the Government of Tamil Nadu state), she stated. More than 150 students attended that programme.
