Observation of National Cancer Awareness Day  (தேசிய புற்றுநோய் விழிப்புணர்வு தினம் அனுசரிப்பு)

On behalf of the National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross, and Red Ribbon Club of Trinity College for Women, Namakkal conducted a  programme on “Human Chain Event and an alertness programme on “Cancer: Early Detection Saves Our Lives” (மனித சங்கிலி மற்றும் புற்றுநோய் துவக்கத்தில் கண்டறிதல் – நம் உயிரினை காப்பாற்றும்”  என்ற  தலைப்பிலான விழிப்புணர்வு நிகழ்வு)  on November 7, 2023.

The Human Chain event was held at Trichy Road, Namakkal, and the awareness programme on “Cancer: Early Detection Saves Our Life” was held at the premises of the Auditorium, Thangam Hospitals and Cancer Centre, 54, Dr. Sankaran Road, Namakkal.

Dr. S. Uma, District Collector, Namakkal,  inaugurated the programme.    Mr. K. Rajangam, District Forest Officer, Namakkal offered his felicitation address.

Dr. R. Kulandaivel, Dr. M. Malliga Kulandaivel, Dr. Saravanan Rajamanickam, Dr. Deepti Mishra, Dr. Aruna Prabhu, Dr. Shuba C, and Dr. S. Deepan Kumar were speaking about the significance of cancer awareness. About 40% of the cancers in the country are due to the consumption of tobacco. Cancer is easily curable. However, early detection is important, as they pointed out.

Mr. M. Thillai Sivakumar, Secretary, Pasumai Namakkal, Dr. Aruna Selvaraj, Executive Director; Mrs. S. Jayamathi, NSS Programme Officer; Mrs. V. Gokila, Coordinator of Red Ribbon Club; and the volunteers of NSS, YRC, and RRC also took part in that occasion.
