Income Tax Day (24.07.2023) celebrations
Owing to the Income Tax celebration, the Department of Commerce, Trinity College for Women, Namakkal and the Office of the Income Tax Officer (Admin), Namakkal jointly conducted an awareness programme on 24.07.2023. In this regard, Mr. I. Abdul Rasheed, Income Tax Officer, Ward – 1, DDO & Administration, Mr. V. Kamalakannan, Income Tax Officer, Ward 2, Mr. V.G. Veerakumar, Inspector of Income Tax, Ward 1 & Ward 2, Namakkal and Mr. D. Nivash, Senior Assistant, Ward 1 & Ward 2, Namakkal interacted with the students of Commerce.
They talked about the history of income tax, the objectives of income tax, what are the benefits for this society for income tax taxation, the significance of PAN, who will come under the tax system, eligibility criteria for tax exemption and the penalty punishment for income tax evasion.
Out of 130 crores of people in India, only 6 percent (7.8 crores) of people have paid income tax to the Government of India. Taxation, especially income tax is mandatory for India’s growth, military expenses, infrastructure and other welfare schemes for poor people. In comparison with the developed countries, the taxpayers of India are very low, they pointed out.
Dr. M. Sasikala, AP & HOD of Commerce welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Aruna Selvaraj, Executive Director presided over the programme. Dr. M.R. Lakshiminarayanan, Principal, Dr. Arasuparameswaran, Director – Academic, The faculty of Commerce Mrs. G. Nithya, Dr. S. Devi, Mrs. M. Rajapadmavathi, Dr. R. Suba, Mrs. M. Ramya, Mrs. K. Amutha, Mrs. G. Kokila and Mrs. A. Rajeswari and the students of Commerce took part.
